Before placing an order, check these common mistakes.
1. Unclear Door Dimensions
A size such as 900 × 2100 mm is not enough unless it is clear what the dimensions refer to:
- Door leaf size
- Frame size
- Rough opening size
For double doors, the width of each leaf should also be confirmed.
2. Single or Double Door Not Specified
A double door is not simply two single doors.
It may involve different frame construction, leaf widths, active/inactive leaves, and additional hardware.
Always state whether the opening is single or double.
3. Fire Rating or Certification Requirements Are Not Confirmed
The required fire rating and certification should be confirmed according to the local code requirements and approved project documents before ordering. Do not ask the supplier to guess the required rating.
4. Hardware Requirements Are Incomplete
Fire door hardware can affect both configuration and price. Depending on the project, requirements may include:
- Hinges
- Locks or latches
- Door closers
- Fire exit hardware
- Flush bolts
- Coordinators
- Seals and other accessories
If you already have a hardware schedule, send it with the enquiry.
5. Project Documents Do Not Match
Sometimes the door schedule, drawing, and hardware schedule show different information. If there is a conflict, clarify the final approved requirement before production.Otherwise, the supplier may need to stop and reconfirm the specification later.

Before requesting a final quotation or starting production, make sure the supplier has the latest approved:
- Door schedule
- Drawings
- Project Specifications
Clear information at the beginning can reduce quotation revisions, repeated questions, and production delays.
